The “Metaps Platform,” created by the Japanese start-up company Metaps Incs., is an advertising network for Android enabled Smartphone which provides a place for developers to simultaneously achieve both low-risk Cost per Install (CPI) based promotion and continuous revenue generated by ads.
What Makes The Metaps Platform Special?
Since starting its work from August, 2011, the Metaps Platform has primarily focused on expanding its business in Asia, while supporting and providing consultation to app developers mostly from China, Japan, South Korea, South East Asia as well as North America.
As the Chinese and American Smartphone markets are the highest in the world, with further growth expected in the future, in 2012 Metaps Inc. set up offices in Silicon Valley and Hong Kong to support the expansion of their global platform and to strengthen alliances with local app developers there. To match the growing market in Asia, Metaps Inc. had also setup an office in Singapore, and have more recently setup offices in Shanghai and Taiwan as well.
A Bit More About Metaps Platform
This was made possible because of the Series B funding Metaps Inc. made in early 2013 where it raised around 1 billion yen (around approximately $11 billion) to help expand its ventures across Asia. The investment was led by Fidelity Growth Partners Japan, and included participation from existing backers of Metaps Inc.
The subsequent benefit of this was seen later in the year, in November, 2013, when Metaps Inc. entered in a business agreement with the South Korean company KAKAO Inc., creators of the popular messaging app KakaoTalk, for the Korean market. Most tellingly, when the partnership took place, there were only 500 million apps with the Metaps software development kit integrated in them, and in February, 2014, only four months later, apps on the Metaps platform had crossed 1 billion downloads. Only a year earlier, in February, 2013 apps with the Metaps SDK had been downloaded 62 millions times.
Metaps Inc. CEO Katsuaki Sato even puts this down to the massive growth and expansion in Asia. He said “Over the past year, we have entered into very productive partnerships with LINE and KAKAO, and we have continued to improve the high quality of our user network with the addition of top-level Android developers producing high quality games.”
According to its home website customers who have used the Metaps SDK include Zynga, Baidu, Good Game Studios, FT Games and Happy Elements, therefore showing that games are Metap’s strongest app category. The question is, how popular will it be for the Android ecosystem and for Android developers?
