Good News: Google plans to train 2 million mobile app developers in India

The Tech Giant Google has revealed a great deal of initiatives to train, mentor, educate and certify the professional developers, newbie and students as part of its Android skilling programme in India, which intentions to train 2 million mobile app developers. Android overshadows the global market for mobile operating systems and contends with Apple, which also invests in neutering developers to make apps for iOS.

VP of product management at Google, Caesar Sengupta, said,

“We believe India is uniquely placed to innovate. India is anticipated to have the massive developer population globally, surpassing the US, by 2018, with 4 million developers, but only 25% are building for mobile today.”

The specially designed training programme on Android Fundamentals will be made available across public and private universities and training institutes of the NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). The in-person training module incorporated into the course curriculum will be introduced this year without any additional fee. It will be usable and available free of charge on National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning platform, an opening move of the IIT & the Indian Institute of Science, as sub-set of its online mobile computing course starting July 18, 2016 (today).

The search giant will also open-source all Android developer fundamentals practicals and courseware and make them available to everyone for free.

“We wish to contribute to the Skill India initiative, aid to lead India the pioneer and leader in mobile app development across the globe and renovate the Internet experience of millions and millions of users who are and will come online on the mobile platform”,

Sengupta said.

It promises to propose the programme to more than 2,000 universities, training programme to approximately 4,000 faculty and is expected to suprass more than 250,000 students every year. Google will train their trainer and this is how the mobile app development is making a revolution, and will continue to make.

Google’s vital approach comes as Apple plans to open a development accelerator in Bengaluru as soon as possible, which will render distinguished support to iOS app developers. It will update the Android courseware to students for Android certification and a career in Android development. Google has tied up with Koenig, Manipal Global, Edureka, Simplilearn, Udacity and UpGrad, among others, which will control as authorised Android training partners in India.
