7 Ways Virtual Reality Will Revolutionize Mobile App Development

Mobile app development landscape is rapidly evolving. What was once a popular app development trend will soon become history. Users can quickly get bored by using a mobile app multiple times, so they want something new. Technologies like virtual reality can deliver an immersive experience and has applications and use cases beyond gaming.

According to VR statistics, Virtual reality will generate $150 billion in revenue by 2020. The size of the global VR gaming market will surge to $22.9 billion by the end of 2020. There are 22.4 million VR users in the US alone and it is predicted that 500 million VR headset will be sold by 2025. All these statistics clearly show the growing popularity of virtual reality but how does it impact mobile app development? Let’s find out.

In this article, you will learn about seven ways in which virtual reality will transform mobile app development.

Enhance User Engagement

When a new app is released, hundreds and thousands of users download that app. After a few weeks, they get bored with the app and stop using the app. Mobile app development companies are struggling to keep the user engaged. The mobile app development company that uses VR technology can overcome this issue by delivering immersive user experience and keep the app users engaged. Immersive user experience can also increase message retention and recall. The more a user engages with your mobile app, the more satisfied users might be.

Boost Brand Loyalty

With millions of mobile apps in app stores, it is hard to attract users towards your mobile app. You want to make your mobile app stand out from the crowd. This is only possible when you build trust and focus on building brand loyalty. Virtual reality can help you with that by consistently delivering a great user experience. Once people start to trust your mobile application, they are more likely to continue using your mobile app. That is why it is important to turn your users into loyal users.

Improves Communication

There are instances when sending a text message, email or voice call might not be enough to convey your message. That is where VR comes into play. It makes communication more visual and more interactive so that both parties can not only listen but can also give their input too.  With VR, you can design virtual experiences just like real ones.

L’Oréal is already using virtual reality to conduct immersive meetings. Facebook has created a VR app called Facebook Spaces that enables multiple Facebook users to interact with one another by using a VR device. Many other brands are using VR for internal communication. Soon, we will see all brands jump on the VR bandwagon and create VR applications to stay in touch and deliver a great user experience.

Exceptional Performance

What do users really demand from a mobile app? They want fast performance and a great user experience. We have already talked about how VR technology improves the user experience and keep them engaged but how does it enhance the performance.

VR streamlines the user experiences and make the animations flow. This way, users don’t have to experience lag which makes their app user experience whole lot better. That is why Components of Virtual Reality is widely used for gaming and entertainment-related applications.  Everything runs buttery smooth especially if you have the right resources and have fixed all the technical issues that can negatively impact your VR application.

Increases Productivity

Many organizations are already using VR applications to deliver an immersive work experience to their employees. By delivering an interactive experience, they are keeping their employees engaged. High employee engagement rates translate into higher productivity.

Companies like Accenture, Hyundai, and Fidelity has invested heavily in VR technologies and are reaping rich rewards in terms of higher productivity and reduces risk. Chris Chapman, Hyundai designer admitted that virtual reality has enhanced his creativity and helped other designers in streamlining their work. He also believes that platforms like virtual reality enable remote workers to contribute more effectively especially in demanding, high stakes environments.

Effective Tool for Training and Learning

Many Fortune 500 companies such as Boeing, Walmart, and UPS are already leveraging virtual reality to educate their employees. These companies are using it in their employee education programs.  UPS is using HTC Vive VR headsets to help drivers spot hazards pm the road when driving virtually. Previously, this training exercise is completed using a touch screen but that forces drivers to take hands off the steering wheel in order to interact with a touchscreen which can be dangerous. The company decided to replace the touch screen with a VR headset.

During the five-day training, drivers are given a demonstration and taught in a classroom before putting them in a virtual reality-based environment. The company has admitted that its retention rates have jumped by 75% after introducing the VR headset into the mix. Laura Collings, who is the training manager at UPS said, “Virtual reality has unlimited possibilities. We’re looking at every opportunity we can right now. You can train people faster, and people learn faster in a VR environment.”

Walmart started using VR for training last year with 220 Walmart academies but now they have expanded their program to 4600 stores and 1 million associates. Brock McKeel, Senior director of digital operations at Walmart summed it up brilliantly when he said, “Life happens in 360, not 2D video. We test our associates on the content they see. Those associates who [used] VR as part of their training scored higher than those who didn’t.”

Make Tracking Easy

There are industries that require tracking and monitoring facility and virtual reality can provide it too. It can use sensors and help users track different items in different locations. VR apps can facilitate tracking and monitoring systems. You can also use this technology to help users see the products before purchasing it so they can get a better idea about it before making the final decision.
